Gen 2 Carbon materials have been successfully demonstrated in both structural and interior applications for the rail industry.

In combination with virgin carbon fibre, G-TEX products have been proven to meet the most demanding structural requirements. An excellent example of the materials in action is the CaFiBo project in which a carbon fibre bogie frame was built and tested to EN standards that simulated a 40 year service life.

In other applications, Gen 2 Carbon materials have been used for lightweight interiors.
Benefits of using recycled carbon fibre include styling freedom, due to the excellent formability of the materials, high quality surface finish, and low-cost tooling compared to that required for metallic forming. This makes the materials particularly attractive for vehicles with production numbers up to the 10,000’s per year.
